The answer to Conan's deleted scenes

Todd Doogan, a writer for thedigitalbits.com, had a conversation with DVD Producer Laurent Bouzereau, who is producing, writing and directing a special edition documentaries and materials for DVD. He did Birds SE and Jaws SE DVD for Universal, as well as Conan the Barbarian Special Edition DVD. What I found interesting in this interview, were a few lines considering the deleted scenes from Conan:

4501h.jpg (42033 bytes)4501bh.jpg (68386 bytes)

Todd Doogan: Let me ask you about the Conan the Barbarian DVD. Were there any other deleted scenes from that film that you uncovered, because I have always read that there was a ton of stuff cut out of that film - more than what was on the DVD. Is that everything that you know about?

Cq120254.jpg (27461 bytes)

Laurent Bouzereau: That was pretty much everything that we found. That was a very hard disc, because it was hard to find material. Pretty much everything else I saw was beginning and ending of takes. You know... there are a lot of urban legends about that movie, and I'm pretty sure everything you have on that disc is what is out there. There was talk of some wheel of pain shots and some more crucifixion stuff, but when I looked at the footage, that was all I found.

4501_7b.jpg (19482 bytes)

Todd Doogan: Did you go through John Milius to get the footage?

B34135.jpg (45168 bytes)

Laurent Bouzereau: No, I got the footage from Universal. Milius doesn't have anything. When you do a movie for a studio, the studio keeps everything (or destroys everything for that matter). You also have what's called a line script and that explains to you the scenes that were shot and they're all numbered so you can look at the script and you see the scene with that special number. I call the studio and tell them I want to see scene number blank and they pull out the inventory and give me the scene if it's there.

Arnold attended the Olympic Games in Barcelona. He was watching the quarterfinals of boxing that day. The champs from Cuba fought well. Perhaps this made Arnold remembered how he lost his first Mr. Olympia title to his bodybuilding nemesis no.1 Sergio Oliva (also from Cuba)!

I've just got a clip od Arnold in his Terminator leather jacket and riding his Harley once more for Bon Jovi's new music video: "Say It Isn't So." The rock music video was filmed a few weeks ago, but it's always great to see, that Ahnuld still loves playing the ultimate killing machine.

Aurelia (also 'Reli') Schwarzenegger's funeral in Weiz in the same grave as Gustav & Meinhard.

Over 80 (also 100 was reported) her and Arnold's friends attended. As Arnold requested, the funeral was silent and mediafree. Wife Maria Shriver comforted Arnold as he followed the rose-covered coffin and paid his last respect to the woman he called "my rock, my foudation, my first love." "She was the best mother in the world," Arnold told reporters. "I'll miss her terribly."

Alfred Gerstl added that seh was full of love and made everyone proud, while Gerhard Hirschmann thanked her for bringing a superstar Arnold to Steier and to world: "She became the most famous mother on the world!" ("Sie wurde zur berühmtesten ,Mutti' der Welt!" Mass was held by priest Franz Lebenbauer and Josef Reisenhofer (has a parish in Thal for 3 years then and was chaplain in Weiz) who was a reader. Friends and relatives were: Patrick Schwarzenegger with his mother, Franco Columbu, Aurelia's friends at Noah's Ark House (which actively fights animal cruelty, Aurelia was honary president) and Graz Gendarmerie Musik. The funeral was cerfully guarded by 25 Gendarmerie representatives (including Eduard Hamedl). At 10am CET Church's bells rang and the ceremony with coffin (covered with roses) moved from church to the grave. Arnold, Maria, Patrick and his mother were walking near the coffin. Behind were Maria's brother Timmy, Alfred Gerstl, Albert Busek and Franco Columbu. Patrick gave everyone an obituary notice with Aurelia's photo, and a sensitive poem on the other side, which was found by Gerstl. Arnold stated that this was the kind of funeral his mother wished. Arnold flew back to United States in the afternoon promising he'll be back in autumn.

The Globe

Tuesday, August 4, 1998

An issue of Globe, a weekly tabloid magazine, wrote an article about the muscled one which was copied worldwide and distressed many Schwarzenegger fans. The tabloid alleges that Arnold is in very poor health, has a 'ticking time bomb' in his chest, and his wife Maria Shriver takes care of him like an 'invalid' and a 'nursing-home patient'.

We all know how this turned out. Globe had to pay BIG TIME.

Arnold flew to Graz-Thalerhof (Austria) and was driven directly to Weiz. Also with Arnold were Maria with brothers Timmy, Mark and Anthony. A few limusines waited at the airport and a security team of six-men lead by policeman Eduard Hamedl who came from Lassing where Austria was facing another tragedy (mine workers).

On005000.jpg (6235 bytes)

Alfred Gerstl was the first man to welcome Arnold. Over 60 frineds were on the list to attend the funeral including relatives and friends from Schladming, Graz and Thal. An official spech was planned to be made by 'Landesrat' Gerhard Hirschman in the name of LH Waltraud Klasnic. Albert Busek came from Munich, while Franco Columbu came with Arnold. A special police group was also arranged to watch over the funeral on Arnold's wish to avoid the media. Arnold was also smart enough not to officially tell the time of the funeral next day.
