Just a day after announcing its merger with computer animation house Rhythm & Hues, VIFX has been tapped lead f/x house to create visuals for Beacon Communications’ upcoming Arnold Schwarzenegger supernatural actioner End of Days.



They were initially asked to create 60 shots, including digital effects and character animation, compositing and environment enhancement work on the $100 million-plus effects-heavy pic.

AFW 1998: 10th Annual Arnold Schwarzenegger Classic + Ms. International Contest + Fitness International Contest + Arnold Masters Invitational + Arnold Fitness Expo '98 + Arnold Martial Arts Festival. They again hosted the Annual World Gym Convention, as well as a return of the Fitness Symposium conducted by the International Chiropractors Association. More than 250 World Gym owners, 200 chiropractors and another 200 health club owners will attend.

In the past ten years, the ASC has became the world's leading bodybuilding event, with the biggest competition cash prizes, a lot of sponsors and The Classics became a real threat to Mr. Olympia title. Arnold reportedly also organized an arm-wrestling championship during the AS Fitness weekend.



A new fitness magazine for men and women has been introduced at the AFW that year. Intense Fitness, published by Peter Klein, printed on high-quality stock with a clean and elegant look featured Arnold on their 1st cover.

Arnold plays the tune with his now famous Classic weekend, and the world seems to be joining in the dance.

This was probably memorable because of a report of a bodybuilding contest was published in a regular newspaper as The Columbia Dispatch ran a cover story on the muscle-filled weekend in its Weekender selection. The story, which accompanied a paid-advertising supplement that detailed the events of the Classic, referred to displays of massive muscle as if they were commonplace! Was this a sign that bodybuilding is about to go mainstream? There is no question about that Arnold Schwarzenegger Classic finals were sold out weeks in advance. Instead organizers are focusing attention on increasing attendance at the exhibitions and seminars - and what better way to do that than market these events to the mainstream?

During the third annual national symposium on natural fitness, Arnold was awarded by the IFBB pro judge and chiropractic consultant Dr. Jack Bernathan, who serves as president of the International Chiropractors Association Council on Fitness and Sports Health Science.



Arnold got the association's most prestigious health and fitness award for his "vast and historic contributions to public awarness of the relationship between health and fitness.
