Through the generous support of the world's leading film studios, a historic Film Week took place in the People's Republic of China, benefiting Special Olympics. This was the first time that an international film star was in China to launch a campaign, and the first ever in which films were screened both on television and in the cinema. It was the result of an unprecedented level of cooperation on the part of the Chinese entertainment industry.

At University of Wisconsin - Superior Arnold became Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters Degree. The award recognized Schwarzenegger's contributions to health and fitness, speaking out against prejudice, and creating positive opportunities for inner-city children.

"I would like to thank my lovely wife, Maria Shriver, the best woman in the world. If I hadn't mentioned her... no sex for a week."

Just call him Dr. Schwarzenegger.

His anticipated appearance caused quite a stir: University officials for the first time were requiring tickets for the graduation ceremonies. The policy drew complaints a week before that some of the 360 or so graduates wouldn't be able to have all the friends and relatives they wanted in attendance.

Schwarzenegger graduated from the university in 1979 with an individualized major that emphasized international marketing of fitness and business administration.

Exactly a year Arnold had loads of projects on his plate. According to Cinescape Online's own Melissa J. Perenson, when asked what other films he's headed to after 6th Day, Arnold succinctly answered, "Yes, well, we are still working on The Crusade with Paul Verhoeven. We're still trying to get that ready, which most likely will happen in the next year, year-and-a-half from now.

"Then I'm doing a movie with Andy Davis that is called Collateral Damage, which we're going to start in June. And Jim Cameron is going to start writing True Lies #2, the sequel to the first one. So there's a lot of things [going on]. [Doc Savage] is being written as we speak. I've not seen the finished draft. I've only seen parts of it."

It's interesting to see how things changed over the period of one year (there's still no Crusade, Doc Savage or True Lies...).

Gov. Pete Wilson has teamed with actor Arnold Schwarzenegger in the Great California Workout (in Sacramento), the annual Capitol steps event to promote citizen involvement in sports and fitness. The pair led several hundred noontime onlookers in a round of jumping jacks, and traded quips about politics.

Also that day, Arnold paid tribute to Frank Sinatra, who died a day before.

In the meantime, the ailing Planet Hollywood stock received another devastating blow. The ticker took a five percent nose dive after its corporate credit was labeled as "junk" by market analysts Standard & Poor.
